Privacy and Terms

How this site treats your data, and the terms it is published under.

Who publishes this site

edwarddevalle.com is the personal website of Edward De Valle II, published from Miami, Florida. It is an informational site: there are no accounts, no newsletter, no purchases, and no form that stores what you write on this site. Questions about this notice go to Edward@hcidr.com.

What is collected automatically

Two analytics services run on every page. Google Analytics records the pages you view, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and where you arrived from; Google processes that data under its own privacy policy. Microsoft Clarity records the same kind of usage data together with session replays and heatmaps of how visitors scroll, click and move through the pages; anything typed into a field is masked before it reaches Clarity, and Microsoft processes the data under its own privacy policy.

The site may also keep a random visitor identifier in your browser's local storage, so that a return visit sees a consistent version of the site, and, if a script fails, it sends an anonymous technical report (the page, the error text and your browser type) to a monitoring service so the fault can be fixed. The hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for a short period to run and secure the site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them. Google also offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere.

Who else processes it

Personal data is not sold. Google (Analytics), Microsoft (Clarity), Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (technical error reports) process data on our behalf, and WhatsApp and Meta process it when you choose to chat. These providers operate in the United States and, in Google's and Microsoft's case, in other countries where they run. Data may be disclosed where the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months in Google Analytics. Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days and aggregated statistics for up to 13 months. Server logs and error reports are kept only as long as they are needed to run the site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may ask what data is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Write to Edward@hcidr.com; requests are answered within 30 days. Personal data is not sold or shared for advertising.

This site is not directed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.
